Laurel Smith holds a Bachelor of Music Education and taught for ten years in the public school system, and has over fifteen years experience as homeschool instructor in the areas of English, history, and other subjects within the humanities. She is a homeschool mom and has extensive experience working with students with learning challenges.
Mrs. Smith’s teaching style is hands-on and interactive. She enjoys creating lessons that are both informative and engaging. If you peek in her class, you might find her dressed as an historical or literary figure. Students will be analyzing original documents, participating in games or simulations, or presenting projects. As long as we are learning, we might as well have fun doing it!

General Description:
This one day, 34 week course is designed to be an introduction to psychology from a Christian perspective. Psychology is a fascinating subject! Topics of study include the biology of the mind, sensation, perception, learning, cognition, intelligence, development, personality, and abnormal behavior. Classes will be interactive and emphasize critical thinking. Extensive resources, assessments, videos, reading selections, and class support will be provided online.
Students Who Should Take This Class:
This class is recommended for all students who are intending to go to University or students who are interested in learning more about human behavior and mentality. Since psychology is required at many colleges, this class provides a Christian foundation. Students will also develop an awareness of human personality, as well as learning techniques for managing their own behavior. This course is the equivalent of 1 credit of the 2 credits of Social Studies graduation requirement or as one of the 6 elective credits.
